Our department seeks to provide outst和ing instruction in the study of literature 和 in the writing of poetry, 小说, 与非小说类. Graduates achieve an underst和ing of a variety of classic 和 contemporary texts 和 are able to communicate with clarity, 写得有权威, 和 analyze 和 evaluate ideas critically.

The department features a distinguished 和 award-winning teaching faculty who are authors, 短篇小说作家, 和诗人. Central to the 英语 department curriculum is the creation of an atmosphere of open inquiry, where students 和 faculty can work together toward an appreciation of literature 和 writing. We offer courses in a variety of subject areas—from traditional American 和 British literature surveys to more specialized topics like Iranian women writers, 侦探小说, 爱尔兰文学, 法国新浪潮电影, 和更多的.

We offer our students the opportunity to work on a senior thesis project—whether creative or analytical—和 we encourage our students to pursue internships on- 和 off-campus. Such experience has helped our 英语 majors to seek professions in several fields, 包括新闻, 市场营销, 技术写作, 教育, 法律, 和管理.

    Research: Her research 和 teaching center on modern American literature 和 women writers of the twentieth century, a focus she developed while obtaining her MA from the University of Rochester 和 her PhD from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She specializes in the study of women writers in creative partnerships 和 early 20th century periodical studies, 和 she has published 论文 on Zelda Fitzgerald, 黎明鲍威尔, 和 Shirley Jackson in scholarly book collections 和 journals such as The Journal of Modern Periodical Studies 和 The Fitzgerald Review.

    Vince Trimboli holds an MFA in Creative 写作 from 西维吉尼亚州 卫斯理学院. In 2016, Trimboli published two chapbooks with Ghost City Press (公寓中) 和(其他马利筋食客).
